CAI REACH Buffalo: Community Needs Assessment & One-Page Summary: Understanding COVID-19 Vaccine Perspectives and Confidence Initiative

View the REACH COVID-19 Vaccination Initiative Community Needs Assessment and accompanying one-page summary. This resource was created by Cicatelli Associates Inc. (CAI) REACH Buffalo to raise Corridor residents’ COVID-19 vaccine awareness and confidence as a part of the REACH Ferry Corridor Health Project. The Corridor includes five zip codes in Buffalo, New York, where African American and Latinx residents experience the most dramatic health outcome disparities. Accordingly, the community needs assessment (CNA), completed from April 2021 to August 2021, sought to better understand community perspectives about COVID-19 vaccination during the pandemic. Partnerships established by the team were instrumental in recruiting CNA participants, administering surveys, delivering listening sessions, and holding panel and community forum sessions. CNA findings were used to identify best practices in COVID-19 vaccine message development and generate implementation strategies that most effectively increase vaccination rates in Black/African American and Latinx communities along Ferry Street and Buffalo-wide.
