The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is updating the roster of Chapter Immunization Representatives (CIRs) and is seeking to maintain an updated listing. The CIR is a voluntary position that serves as a chapter’s immunization expert and communication liaison between AAP National and AAP chapters. The ideal candidate is a pediatrician, member of the AAP and their state’s chapter, and has direct experience and/or familiarity delivering vaccines and working with the Vaccines For Children (VFC) program. Additionally, CIRs can help provide leadership to other pediatricians in their state and assist chapters with navigating the current climate of growing vaccine hesitancy and declining childhood immunization rates. The CIR role description PDF contains more detailed information.
Additionally, CIRs will have the opportunity to participate in a Community of Practice meeting series in spring/summer 2025, consisting of five 1-hour meetings that cover a variety of immunization issues and topics and will be eligible for a stipend payment at the end of the series and CME credits for the sessions attended.
