Kentucky: New Statutory Law Requires Additional Vaccines for School-Entry

The Kentucky Immunization Program (KIP) worked persistently to ensure additional protection for Kentucky’s children through increased and/or enforceable immunization requirements. The new legislation was drafted, reviewed, open for public comments, and finally passed after two years of dedicated work by the Kentucky Immunization Program. The Kentucky Immunization Program had to write the legislation, have it sponsored by legislators, testify before legislative subcommittees, and educate and assist the public in meeting the new requirements. KIP staff continue to assist parents, medical providers, and school administrators with implementing the requirements.
