Idaho: Moving Toward an HPV Free Idaho Through a Statewide Vaccination Day

To engage community and healthcare partners in an Idaho Statewide Cancer Prevention activity, an HPV Vaccination Day was held in February 2017.  The purpose of the statewide HPV Vaccination Day was to raise awareness among parents of adolescents and create a call to action to initiate or complete the HPV vaccination series. The event was evaluated using HPV vaccine administration data extracted from Idaho’s Immunization Reminder Information System (IRIS). Vaccines administered between October 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017 (intervention) were compared with those administered between October 1, 2015 and March 31, 2016 (control).  Patients in the intervention group were more likely to have received the first dose of the vaccine compared with patients in the control group.
