Kentucky is currently experiencing the largest hepatitis A infection outbreak in recent history. The state average cases for the past five years is 19. From the outbreak declared in November 2017 to July 10, 2018 there have been 1,034 diagnosed cases of Hep A infection and seven related deaths in Kentucky. The Kentucky Department for Public Health’s (KDPH) first actions were to work with the Local Health Departments (LHDs) in the affected areas in a variety of ways.
